I bought this machine for our fire station and it works great. We go through a lot of coffee each day so it makes sense to have this unit with the internal heated tank. It replaces a commercial Bunn unit that had two burners and used a lot more electricity; it was more than we needed plus it had stated to leak.....we had had it for years and it had been given to us used. I was skeptical about the unheated carafe at first, but it works great. It does not leak when pouring coffee, though I was sad to see that the carafe itself is made in China. Also it keeps the coffee hot for two hours at least! It is recommended that you prime the carafe with hot water for 30 secs first before adding the coffee, which is really no big deal. the only reason i would not buy this for my home use is that, we do not drink enough coffee to justify the added electricity use of a "always on" water tank, if Bunn made a regular brewer with this carafe I would buy it in a second.Customer Review: not as requested

i ordered the btx-s which had the steel base and was a new model , but recieved the older version btx-b . not 100% happy about this and then the temp of the coffee is nothing to brag about ! true it tastes better than leaving a burner on all the time but the coffe cools to rapidly . still looking fir the right maker ... this is not it !!!!Customer Review: Excelent

My first Bunn was with the glass carafe and that lasted 10 years!!!! My second Bunn was purchased 5 years ago. This one came with the carafe. Loved the carafe but the spout was the older version and leaked. I am on my third Bunn in 15 years!! The new version has the corrected spout and works beautifully. I sometimes make 4 pots of coffee a day. I figure that we could double the years to 30 because of my usage. I really enjoy coffee and this machine is just the best!! 3 minutes to the most wonderful coffee that you brew yourself. I've owned the Cuisinart DCC-1150: Here's what I can tell you about this very comparable model. Coffee is not very hot when brewed. Drip stop feature did not work very well. Filling the unit with water is really cumbersome. The lid only opens 90 degrees and you have to fill it at the rearmost corner so the lid gets in the way. About 1 year into the machine the unit began leaking during brewing. We found the cause to be the Carafe lid which is not serviceable (cleanable internally) and so therefore must be replaced. Coffee with the DCC-1150 the gold filter was OK. Occasionally silty. The drip stop portion needs to be cleaned weekly, but it easily easily done. The pot pours coffee very slowly. Numbers on the side of my unit on the water reservoir were hard to read. Support is a joke. My unit was not even listed on the Cuisinart web site. (I tried the grind and brew model prior and the unit clogged so much in one week I returned it).
I replaced the Cuisinart with the Bunn BTX-B.
Bunn BTX-B: Coffee brews fast and it's hot. Set-up is straight forward. Cleaning a breeze. Zero bitterness to coffee. Big difference! Thermal Carafe pours well. You do need to change your routine. Closing the lid starts the brewing and it starts right away. You cannot interrupt brewing as the unit does not have an interrupt feature but a pot brews in 3 minutes! Paper filters and basket are a snap to clean. Carafe lid is serviceable. This unit does not have cup markings anywhere and must make a minimum of 4 cups. So this unit is not as convenient on odd numbers of cups. There is no timer or delay brew feature. This unit appears to use slightly more coffee but I think there might be more to it, the coffee is much more mellow. I think this fools our taste buds. The brewing system actually performs as promised. Less bitter! If you like strong black coffee with flavor not acid bite, get this machine. I have had no problems with the unit. The unit comes with cleaning tools and a manual written in english. FInally it's made in the USA and that should make a difference to us all. Extra money than the cheapo's but rewarding every cup. I thought the lack of cup markings was going to be a problem but the coffee is so good I'm drinking more!
